Canton Tower, the new landmark building of Guangzhou is a must-go scenic spot for tourists. 600 meters above sea level, Canton Tower, which is the highest TV tower of the world, tops the city skyline. In the tourist hall at the top of the tower, you can get a panoramic view of the spectacular city landscape.


 

You may marvel at the unique and beautiful structure and mind-numbing height of Canton Tower. The tower is cordially called by Guangzhou citizens as "small waistline". Once you step into the elevators in the 7.2-meter-high tower bottom, you begin your remarkable tour of the tower. High-speed double-deck elevators fly from the tower bottom to the top at ten-minute intervals. At a speed of five meters per second, the elevator will take you to the top at 433 meters within less than one and a half minutes. As the elevator rises, you can appreciate the shrinking view of city landscape through the elevator's transparent glass door.


The thrilling moment comes once you step into the tourist hall at the top. Standing at the highest point of the city, you feel as if the the sky and clouds are at your fingertips. Through the 360°circular ground glass, you will be shocked at the breathtaking view of the city. If you have the "audacity", you can step into the transparent viewing corridor. Through the transparent glass floor under your feet, you may feel your heart beating and pulse racing when your look all the way down to the tower bottom.


Experiencing the highest and longest skywalk ladder in the world

The skywalk ladder of the tower, the first of its kind in Guangzhou was opened to the public on Jan. 21st, 2011. Tucked between Floor 33 and Floor 36, the ladder is 334.4 meters above sea level . A total of 1,088 staircases spiral upwards, which add up to 1,000 meters in length. Under normal circumstances, it takes 30 to 40 minutes to cover the entire ladder. Part of the ladder is equipped with transparent glass floor, through which you will see the buildings and traffic below. If fatigue sets in, you can relax yourself in resting areas, drinking water service areas and photography service areas in Floor 42, Floor 54 and Floor 62. You can take the elevator in Floor 65 to leave the tower. Tourists with special needs can exit the tower through emergency passages.


Lights-on Time:

If you want to take photos of the sparkling tower at night, you may need to take note of its lights-on time: 7:30 P.M. – 11:00 P.M. in summer and 6:00 P.M. – 11:00 P.M. in winter. The schedule is subject to change without prior notice on cloudy or rainy days.


Souvenirs:

"Lingnan Style" on the 31st floor showcases Guangdong's intangible cultural heritage and offers some trendy souvenirs, such as Guangzhou glazed porcelain chains for mobile phones, daily articles made of embroidered Canton gauze, and transparent card-shaped flash disks with depictions of items of intangible cultural heritage.


※ Ticket Prices:

Ticket prices fall into three categories. The price for a visit to the first section (Floor 32, 162.8 meters high) is 50 yuan per person. The prices for the second (Floor 66, 339.6 meters in height) and third (Floor 84, 433,2 meters high) sections are respectively 100 yuan per person and 150 yuan per person.


※ Transportation:

· Metro: The metro system is the No. 1 choice of transport means. Take Line 3 or the APM Line at Zhujiang New Town to Chigang Tower and take Exit B. Walk about 200 meters and you will see the ticket office.

· Bus: Take the following bus lines: No. 121, 121A, 204, 42 and Tourist Line 2. Get off at Chigang Tower Station.


※ Food:

Automatic vendor machines are installed in the tower. Soft drinks and snacks are set at very reasonable prices.


※ Shopping:

You can put a postmark of Canton Tower on your ticket. Commemorative stamps, postcards and stamped envelopes are also available.


※ Special warnings:

1. Food, water and inflammable and explosive goods should be stored at the security check points.

2. To climb the skywalk ladder, each tourist will be charged additional 100 yuan. The skywalk ladder is closed in such bad weather as thunder and heavy rain. Before entering the ladder, each tourist needs to sign a confirmation agreement with Canton Tower Company. The purpose is to inform tourists of the risks involved in the activity. Tourists should decide whether to participate in the activity according to their physical conditions.
