Guangzhou Commerce & Exhibition Promotion and Service Center belongs to Public Non-profit Institution Class I (Department Level) that is directly under the Guangzhou Bureau of Commerce. Its main task is to undertake the preliminary investigation, demonstration and drafting of development plans and industrial policies for Guangzhou convention and exhibition industry and offer assistance with relevant implementation; undertake the planning and project implementation of publicity and promotion activities of Guangzhou convention and exhibition industry; undertake work related to global cooperation and exchange for Guangzhou convention and exhibition industry and facilitate the introduction of convention and exhibition projects from both domestic and international brands; undertake data statistics, information collection and the establishment of exhibition database and expert database for Guangzhou convention and exhibition industry to provide basis for government decision-making; undertake work related to key brand exhibitions which are on the list of major exhibitions fostered by Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, professional exhibitions in industries which enjoy key government support, and public welfare exhibitions; and undertake work related to expanding markets for Made-in-Guangdong products and economic and trade exhibitions. In addition, auxiliary affairs related to business management assigned by Guangzhou municipal business management department is also its task.

In recent years, it has successfully hosted a series of relatively high-level exhibitions such as Guangzhou International Garments Festival, Guangzhou International Beer Festival, Guangzhou Shopping Festival, Guangzhou International Food Festival and Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo; organized a host of offline promotion activities for Guangzhou's brand products and enterprises like famous, excellent and special enterprises of Guangzhou to Changsha, Nanchang and other cities; carried out publicity, promotion, exchange and cooperation activities in Guangzhou convention and exhibition industry in Italy, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Beijing and other major exhibition countries and cities at home and abroad; undertaken the construction of The Public Service Platform of Guangzhou Convention and Exhibition Industry that integrates online services, information release, data statistics, and on-site management services.
