An online recruitment fair targeting the biomedicine industry was launched by Guangzhou's Huangpu district on April 10, being the first of its kind among all hi-tech districts and economic development districts in China.
A total of 54 outstanding biomedicine companies in Huangpu, such as BeiGene, InnoCare, and Guangzhou KingMed Diagnostics Group Co Ltd, have released over 1,700 job opportunities for 350 posts.
The fair, serving 2020 graduates in biomedicine from all over the country, has attracted about 300,000 students from 12 prestigious universities including Southern Medical University, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, and Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine.
Various forms of recruitment online, such as selection, promotion, and interviews, are being held to make sure the normal operation of attracting biomedicine talents despite the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
"BeiGene has completed the first-phase construction of its 8,000-litre capacity project in two years, allowing the company to have the world's leading manufacturing ability in biomedicine. The same construction may take seven to eight years to finish abroad," said Liu Jian, when introducing the company's development history in Huangpu, showcasing the great momentum of the rapid development of the biomedicine industry in the district.
"The trial has let people learn about the advantages of online recruitment, which can cover more people with high efficiency and influence. It may become a development trend," said Li Lu, the chief human resources officer of KingMed Diagnostics.
The biomedicine industry is one of the pillar industries in Huangpu district as more than 1,000 biomedicine companies have settled down in the area, accounting for over 60 percent of the total number in Guangzhou.
The district has been a pioneer in China in the development level of the biomedicine industry and has been home to a number of the world's leading companies, research and development institutes, as well as platforms.
The number of staff members in major biomedicine companies amounted to 64,000 in 2019, including 180 overseas employees and more than 700 returnees from overseas.
