Nansha FTZ’s import and export volume grew from 130.3 billion yuan (about $18.4 billion) to 213.7 billion yuan (about $30.16 billion), with an average annual growth of 10.4 percent, accounting for one fifth of the total volume in Guangzhou.

According to the officer for Nansha FTZ’s General Administration of Customs, Nansha has launched three major projects, namely the TEGGS system, global traceability center and global quality goods distribution center to optimize trade policies and lower cross-border trade costs.

“The TEGGS system is dedicated to the connection between the E-Ports across the globe, aiming to improve the efficiency of multilateral simultaneous customs clearance with the use of IoT technology. The global traceablity center enables customers to track the authenticity of their cross-border purchases while providing products with valid quality certifications. The global quality goods distribution center offers brands flexible and integrated distribution services, which is convenient given the fact that companies are selling products via multiple online platforms nowadays,” said the officer.

Thus far, 14932 enterprises have utilised the International Trade Digital General Service System and the value of their commodities hit 60.5 billion US dollars. The distribution center has attracted renowned brands such as P&G, Nestle and Bayer while the TEGGS system now sees more than 700 cooperative offices set up around the world.

In addition, Nansha FTZ has continued to better the business environment for port related industries. One key advance was waiving 270-million-yuan inspection fee, benefitting more than 4400 foreign trade companies since 2015. Nansha Port has opened 62 new international container lines and housed about 9000 shipping companies over the past five years.
