The 127th session of the China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, issued its first online participation instructions on April 26th. The fair will be held online for 10 days from June 15th to 24th. Its official website will play the role as an all-round demonstration platform, offering comprehensive 24-hour service allowing companies to display their products, find suppliers and purchasers, hold negotiations and so on.

The National Pavilion has attracted around 25,000 enterprises

The enterprises will be divided between the National and the International Pavilions. The National Pavilion is comprised of 16 categories including ‘Electronics & Household Electronic Appliances’, ‘Textiles & Garments’, and ‘Medicines, Medical Devices & Health Products’, and will be further divided into 50 exhibition areas. Around 25,000 China based enterprises with previous booth arrangements will form this Pavilion.

The International Pavilion will showcase products across 6 categories including ‘Electronics & Household Electrical Appliances’ and ‘Building Materials & Hardware’. About 400 enterprises from 30 different countries who have prepaid for the 127th Canton Fair booths will participate in this Pavilion.

Online docking platform to display VR enterprises

The fair will set up an online platform providing companies with new means to display their products, find suppliers and purchasers, hold negotiations and so on.

Participating enterprises can upload relevant information to the docking platform in the form of pictures, videos, 3D and VR to facilitate demonstration. The enterprises can also set up a virtual booth making both their brand and products more vivid. The query system will be optimized so that purchasers can visit the virtual booths, and look up enterprises and products in different categories via key word search or just the booth number.

The fair will have a live streaming section, offering bandwidth to each exhibitor around the clock throughout the 10-day exhibition, a forum where they can FaceTime with their potential buyers without interruption or promote their products or service to a large number of virtual visitors.

The fair will also set up cross-border e-commerce sections, and launch business activities on the theme of ‘Canton Fair, Global Share’ via some domestic third-party cross-border e-commerce platforms.

The online platform is still under construction, and is projected to be up and running in early May. Participating enterprises should prepare relevant materials in advance, and upload all the information before May 25th. Each enterprise may upload one VR booth in each pavilion.

IPR protection to feature heavily on the official website

In addition to existing IPR protection mechanisms, the fair will set up a special tab on the official website, offering instant access to IPR protection and trade dispute settlement services for suppliers and purchasers.

Enterprises can also set up restrictions on the browsing range of buyers and viewers, and limit audiences of the live streams to help protect their IP.

In addition, the submission deadline for the 2020 Canton Fair Design Awards (CF Awards) is now extended to June 30th. Relevant selection work will be carried out around the fair’s autumn session.
