Baiyun Airport is one of three major international aviation hubs in China and the core airport in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. According to the statistics, 500,000 flights, 73 million passengers, and 1.9 million tons of cargo came through the airport last year.
At present, the airport has two terminals and three runways, with a network of routes covering more than 230 destinations, over 90 of which are international destinations.
In the short run, work will begin on the third phase of the expansion project, opening two new runways, two waiting corridors for T2 and the Terminal 3.
The expansion project plan shows Terminal 3 and the integrated transportation center (including overnight accommodation for passengers) will be built as one integrated terminal complex.
And an APM (Automated People Mover System) will shuttle passengers between different terminal buildings. The travel time between terminals and functional areas will take between 10 and 15 minutes, respectively.
By intercity rail and expressways, passengers can reach Guangzhou Railway Station within 20 minutes from the airport and be in Tianhe CBD or other urban areas within a mere 30 minutes.
