Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, launched its first livestreaming festival Saturday in an effort to stimulate online consumption.

More than 200,000 livestreaming events will be held during the three-day festival, according to the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce.

During the festival, livestreaming will be held in specialized markets, major shopping malls, and restaurants across the city, according to Wei Min, deputy head of the commerce bureau.
