On June 17, a batch of goods were transferred from Baiyun Airport to Dalang Railway Station, and then delivered to Liege, Belgium through the China-Europe freight train. This air-rail transportation model for cross-border e-commerce export was initiated by Guangzhou in the country.

Due to the lasting pandemic, more consumers prefer to have online shopping that boosts Guangzhou's cross-border e-commerce export development. The statistics show that Baiyun Airport's e-commerce retail export business grew about 40% year-on-year in the first half of the year.

Thanks to the administrative cooperation between the China-Europe freight train and Baiyun Airport, the new transportation model helps to reduce the waiting time of overseas consumers, and to enable enterprises to explore the market in countries along the Belt and Road.

Compared with the maritime exports in the past, the logistics time for exporting through the China-Europe train can be reduced from 45 days to 15 days, with the transportation time shortened by about 70%.

A China-Europe freight train is ready to depart.

In detail, the cost of goods exported to Europe and the United States by air is about 30 yuan per kilogram, while the cost is 1,000 yuan per ton when they are delivered by the freight train.

What's more, the China-Europe freight train only charges regular shipping fees, and there are no additional charges in delivery and operating.

Such an innovative move in exporting, not only offers efficient logistics services for e-commerce enterprises, but also brings opportunities for development of Baiyun Airport.

Export products from surrounding cities including Dongguan, Foshan and even from other Southeast Asian nations are now able to access the China-Europe freight train with the advantages of Baiyun Airport in bonded areas, air transportation and so on.
