Maritime Silk Road Expo to be held in Guangzhou from September 24th to 26th

The Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo 2020 (MSRE) will be held at the China Import and Export Fair Complex from September 24th to 26th. The MSRE forum will also be held at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center on September 24th. Several new exhibitions will make debuts this year.

The MSRE will set up two comprehensive exhibition areas focusing on globally recognized products, culture & tourism, as well as three professional exhibition areas about maritime economy, agricultural products, bio-medical, with an area of 60,000 square meters.

As a global influential platform, the MSRE is a move for Guangdong to further its opening-up, and to attract foreign countries to share new technologies and ideas through the exhibitions of economic achievements, said Chen Yuehua, deputy director-general of the Department of Commerce of Guangdong.


The close economic and trade cooperation between Guangdong and the countries (or regions) along the Belt and Road are regarded as important reasons to enhance the expo's global influence.


In 2019, the volume of imports and exports between Guangdong and the Belt and Road countries (regions) reached to 1.7 trillion yuan, accounting for 25% of the province's total foreign trade; and 228 new enterprises were established in countries along the Belt and Road.


Two exhibition areas will be set up in this session to balance investment and cultural exchanges for the first time, one of which is an exhibition area to highlight branded products, technologies and services of the Global 500 companies or large multinational companies.


Now about 30 enterprises such as Amway, Hitachi are confirmed to attend the expo, to bring products such as automobile, intelligent manufacturing, new materials.


Cultural and tourism cooperation with countries (or regions) along the Belt and Road will also be strengthened through the debut of international culture & tourism exhibition area. The expo will see the participation of 51 overseas embassies in China to showcase featured customs, special architectures, excellent tourism resources.


During the exhibition, visitors will have the chance to experience the culture-related products of various countries, such as exquisite pearl products, wooden crafts, textiles. And distinctive cultural performances will be presented by countries like Argentina, Spain, Thailand, Indonesia, Cuba and Poland.


The MSRE forum, which includes a main conference and four sub forums with the emphasis of cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative, development of the Greater Bay Area. The forum will invite over 10 important foreign politicians, ambassadors and a number of economic elites, as well as scholars to exchange their insights.
