The 2020 World Intelligent Vehicle Conference is scheduled to be held in Guangzhou's Tianhe district from Dec 3 to 4, officials announced during a press conference held on Nov 20.
Being held for the first time, the conference will feature conferences, experience activities, selection competitions, and exhibitions.
It will be jointly held by the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Guangzhou municipal development and reform commission, the Tianhe district government, as well as International Data Group (IDG) Asia, with support from the Guangzhou municipal government.
It is expected that the conference will deepen international cooperation to push forward the innovative development of intelligent vehicles, as well as to better respond to the changes in the economic and social development model caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
A person in charge of IDG Asia noted that the conference will include one main forum, 10 parallel forums, two major selection competitions, as well as several experiential activities. It is expected to attract attendees, including representatives from official institutes from home and abroad, academicians, experts, as well as business leaders to discuss pressing issues in the development of the intelligent vehicle industry.
Guangzhou has taken the lead in developing the intelligent vehicle industry in China as the city is the first of its kind in the country to recognize road test licenses for intelligent vehicles of other cities, as well the cheapest city in China in terms of the cost of a closed test of a single vehicle.
