A newly founded service centre to help young entrepreneurs in Guangzhou

The newly founded Guangzhou Hong Kong-Macao Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Service Center (the Centre) officially went into operation on Wednesday (January 6th). This 7-storey building is located at No. 541-543, Guangyuan Zhong Road, Baiyun District, Guangzhou, and can accommodate 60 teams and up to 270 people. The Centre is equipped with offices and leisure facilities and the first batch of enterprises is expected to arrive at the end of January.

According to Ye Xingren, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Youth League of China, Guangzhou Municipal Committee, the Centre will provide policy consultation, agency services, investment and financing consultation, entrepreneurship counseling and other services for entrepreneurial youths in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which creates a one-stop service chain of "Talent Introduction-Project Incubation-Training-Promotion".

In order to attract young people to the Greater Bay Area and promote the high-quality economic and social development of Guangzhou, the Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government formally introduced a series of policies. Qualified entrepreneurial teams can be provided with up to 2 years rent-free offices. The main representatives who are in charge of the entrepreneurial team applying to rent the free offices should be between 18-35 years old, and for youths from Hong Kong and Macao, the limitation can be extended to 44 years old. The enterprises should be related to emerging industries such as information technology, artificial intelligence, biomedicine, new energy, advanced manufacturing, law, accounting, cultural creativity and so on.

At the press conference of the Centre settlement, Fok Kai-man, the vice-chairman of Guangzhou Youth Federation and Vice President of Henry Fok Ying Tung Group Company Limited, said that in recent years, Guangzhou has paid large attention to the development of young people from Hong Kong and Macao. It is obvious that the atmosphere for innovation and entrepreneurship is changing and the living environment is constantly improving. He also appealed to young people from Hong Kong and Macao to take active actions, give full play to their advantages, come to Guangzhou to start their own businesses, and actively integrate into the national development.


Ng Ga-wai, a Hong Kong youth of the generation after the 90s, has run a business in Guangzhou for more than 2 years. He said, “There is a huge consumption potential in the Greater Bay Area. The government has also created a good business environment for teams from Hong Kong and Macao. Furthermore, Guangzhou is close to Dongguan, Zhongshan and Huizhou where production plants are concentrated. A very complete supply chain is available in the Greater Bay Area. In terms of market and culture, Guangzhou is very similar to Hong Kong and Macao, which is very suitable for teams from Hong Kong and Macao to start a business."
