Meeting held in Guangzhou highlights Greater Bay Area affairs

On March 19, a work meeting of the various Guangdong's Greater Bay Area (GBA) Affairs Offices was held in Guangzhou. The meeting members briefed the region on the main development of the GBA last year, listened to reports by relevant cities and departments in promoting the GBA construction, and discussed several key tasks for 2021.

Since 2018, the province has finished a three-year action plan (2018-20) for construction in the GBA successfully, and made great progress with Hong Kong and Macao.


For instance, stable progress was made in the building of an international innovation and technology hub, enhancing the connectivity of infrastructure brings efficient flows of key cross-border elements. Also, closer cooperation on people's livelihood makes the residents happier. With the lead of GBA core cities including Guangzhou and Shenzhen, Guangdong has improved regional economic development layout.


Currently, China is embarking on a new journey to fully build a modern socialist country.


According to the meeting, the promotion of GBA development should insist on the principle of "One Country, Two Systems", reform and opening-up, and a mutually beneficial cooperation model under the current complicated domestic and international situations.


During the 14th Five-Year Plan Period (2021-2025), with the implementation of the outline development for the GBA, the GBA should make every effort to increase capacity for scientific and technological innovation, further market integration, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and integrate Hong Kong and Macao into the overall development of the country.


Guangdong will provide more support for national strategic scientific development, building an infrastructure system to link domestic and international markets, promote high quality development of manufacturing, promote high level opening-up and further cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
