A minimalism-themed solo exhibition featuring well-known artist Jin Cheng's comic illustrations is underway at the UN Book Store on the Beijing Road pedestrian street in Guangzhou. The exhibition "The Minimalist Girls", which runs until June 26, 2022, is free and there is no need to book.

In addition to the manuscripts of "The Minimalist Girls", the exhibition showcases several new media works, allowing visitors to enjoy and share the dynamic versions of the creations on their cell phones.

What's more, the series of artworks is also presented in the form of wall paintings on the buildings on both sides of Fuxue West Street next to Beijing Road.

"It was in the 1990s that Minimalism became popular as fashion, which was also a kind of lifestyle and painting style,” Jin Cheng made a brief introduction to the concept of minimalism at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

"What impresses me about this exhibition is the photo wall inspired by the 24 solar terms, which combines both the traditional Chinese elements and contemporary cartoon arts," said Ye Zhenghua, vice professor of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and vice secretary-general of the Guangdong Artists Association.
