On October 25, the mainline of Guangzhou-Shanwei high-speed railway completed the installation of all box girders as the last piece weighing 900 tons was placed on the Zengjiang Grand Bridge.

With a total length of 206.2 kilometers, the railway starts from Xintang in Guangzhou, passes through Huizhou and terminates at Shanwei, a southeastern coastal city in Guangdong.

So far, all the construction work on 50 tunnels, roadbeds, and railway stations have finished. The high-speed rail is entering the homestretch towards opening to traffic in June 2023.

By then, With a designed speed of 350 km/h, it will help reduce the traveling time from Guangzhou to Shanwei from the current 2-hour-journey to about just 1 hour.

It will also accelerate the integration of Eastern Guangdong into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and promote the building of a comprehensive transportation network in Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone and the “1-hour living circle” in Guangzhou.
