2022 Workshop for Thought Leaders Guangzhou Award kicks off

On December 12, the 2022 Workshop for Thought Leaders Guangzhou Award 10th Anniversary Celebration kicked off in Guangzhou in an online and offline format.
More than 100 city officials, representatives of international organizations and scholars of more than 50 countries and regions attended the event.
With the theme “Innovation Cities, Shared Future,” the event is being held from December 12 to 15, 2022.
The event will feature an exhibition on urban innovation, and include a series of international seminars on “Green Cities and Climate Resilience” and “Urban Heritage and Cultural Preservation.”
Mayors and officials of cities including Guangzhou, Dannieh Municipalities of Lebanon and Tehran of Iran as well as officials of international organizations including Metropolis and Asian Mayors Forum addressed at the event.

According to Guangzhou Foreign Affairs Office, the Guangzhou Award is the first international award that in named after a Chinese city and held every two years. A total of 1,361 cases of urban governance have been collected from 556 cities in 96 countries (or regions) over the past ten years. The Guangzhou Award has now become an important platform for exchange and cooperation among global cities and a repository of urban innovation and sustainable development.
The Workshop for Thought Leaders has successfully held three plenaries since 2015 under the framework of the Guangzhou Award. The Workshop aims to promote knowledge sharing and capacity on urban innovation and sustainable development of the city stakeholders and local governments around the globe.
