The 2022 Guangzhou Unicorn Innovative Company List was released on December 30. Twenty-three Guangzhou-based companies are included in the list, among which GAC Aion became the first super unicorn in Guangzhou with a valuation of over 100 billion RMB.
The 23 firms are mainly from six industrial sectors, including information technology (IT), artificial intelligence (AI), advanced manufacturing, e-commerce, new material and new energy, and the Internet of Things. Eighteen of them are high-tech companies with an average of over 305 intellectual property rights (IPRs).
According to the latest statistics, the number of unicorn startups in Guangzhou in 2022 has increased by 43.75 percent compared to last year. Moreover, the operating incomes of Guangzhou's unicorn firms have grown 30.13 percent annually on average in the past three years.
In addition, the city also released three other lists, 82 "future unicorn firms", 51 "seeded unicorn firms", and a further 50 "high-end, precision and sophisticated firms".
