The 18th China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair (CISMEF), the largest and most influential SME exhibition in China, is ongoing in Guangzhou from June 27 to 30. For the first time since the pandemic, the Fair resumed offline exhibition, and about 40 nations and international organizations opened pavilions to showcase their SMEs.
The pavilion of Vietnam, guest of honor of the 18th CISMEF, has about 80 enterprises displaying products with a scale of 120 booths in the fields of agriculture, fishery and food processing and tourism.
According to Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam’s export turnover to China reached 19.8 billion USD, while Vietnam’s imports from China reached 42.4 billion USD in the first five months of 2023. China will continue to be a potential destination for Vietnamese exports due to the advantage of its close geographical location, logistics costs, lower risks than other markets and increased market demand.
Martin Klose, Executive Director and Board Member of the German Chamber of Commerce in China - South & Southwest China, told GDToday at the inauguration of the German Pavilion that it’s the second time they have organized the exhibition for German SMEs. The pavilion has 700-square-meter booths with 22 German companies exhibiting their innovative products.
“We have around 600 German companies active in Guangdong. They have an advantage in industry 4.0 optimization, an area in which the Chinese government is looking for cooperation, while the German companies are ready to comply. Chinese and German SMEs contribute to the economy of both countries through cooperation in carbon emission reduction and innovation on mobility,” said Klose.
Klose indicates that the market development is slower than expected in China and Europe, based on a Flash Survey launched by the Chamber earlier this month. “But we are hopeful that the sales and profits of German companies here can increase in the second half of the year ,” he said.
Faytech, an exhibitor at the German Pavilion, brings a variety of touchscreens that can be applied to teaching and quick-service restaurants. The company has its R&D center in Shenzhen and two factories in Huizhou City of Guangdong Province and Suining of Sichuan Province.
“We represent German technology and Chinese manufacturing, and achieved great success in the EU and US markets. We provide fast-food restaurants with more than 30 thousand touch devices in a year,” Henry Gao, Sales Manager of Faytech, introduced.
Gao said the company considers China a significant market and hopes to bring its successful cases to China. “We are looking for Chinese partners through the CISMEF this year,” he added.
