The 134th China Import and Export Fair, also known as Canton Fair, is to be held from October 15 to November 4, consisting of three phases. The number of participants in this session is expected to increase significantly compared with the last session since, as of October 12, more than 100,000 buyers from 215 countries and regions have pre-registered, according to a press conference held in Guangzhou on October 13.
The exhibition area will be expanded to 1.55 million square meters, an increase of 50,000 square meters over the previous session. The total number of booths will reach 74,000, an increase of nearly 4,600, including 72,000 for export exhibitions and 1,550 for import exhibitions, according to Xu Bing, spokesman for the fair. Exhibitors in the international pavilion come from 650 companies from 43 countries and regions, and 60% of them are from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
The number of pre-registered buyers in Europe and the United States has increased by 8.6 percent over the same period of the previous year, countries involved in BRI increased by 11.2 percent, and the RCEP countries increased by 13.8 percent.
A total of 97 industrial and commercial organizations from Europe, the United States, Asia and Africa have organized delegations to attend the fair, an increase of 86.5 percent over the same period of the previous session. 140 leading cross-border enterprises, including those from Fortune Global 500 companies and Top 250 Global Retailers, have confirmed their participation.
Xu Bing introduced that the 134th Canton Fair has optimized the structure of the exhibition area, and he stressed that the optimization of the exhibition area structure of this fair is the largest adjustment since the 104th session in 2008.
Compared with the previous session, the exhibition area for electrical and mechanical products in the first phase, such as home appliances, consumer electronics, machinery and equipment, as well as new energy, will be further expanded, with the addition of about 3,000 booths, an increase of more than 18%, providing opportunities for more high-tech and high value-added enterprises to participate in the exhibitions. Moreover, the exhibition area for new-energy products will also be expanded, so as to push forward the electric vehicles, lithium batteries and solar cells to further go global.
What’s more, Xu Bing also detailed the development of the online platform of Canton Fair. With the 127th Canton Fair being held online for the first time, the online platform of the fair has been continuously optimized, providing a new channel for enterprises to get orders and expand the market.
From the conclusion of the 133rd session to October 12, the official website of the Canton Fair has received 76.96 million visits, and the total number of visitors has reached 5.93 million, including 4.74 million overseas visitors.
