134th Canton Fair's offline exhibitions concluded with export turnover of 22.3 billion USD

The 134th session of the China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, concluded its offline exhibitions in the southern Chinese metropolis of Guangzhou on November 4, 2023.


As of November 3 (similarly hereinafter), overseas buyers from 229 countries and regions participated in the fair both online and offline, among which 197,869 took part in the offline events, up by 53.4% over the 133rd session and 6.4% over the 126th session before the pandemic.


The number of buyers from countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative was 126,343, accounting for 63.9% of the total, an increase of 68.6% over the last session.

A total of 117 chambers of commerce organized delegations to attend the fair, such as the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC), the National Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers (VOSZ), the Chinese Peruvian Chamber of Commerce (CAPECH), the Brazil-China Chamber of Commerce (CCCB), and the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In addition, 165 Multinational leading enterprises organized buyers to participated in the fair, such as Wal-Mart, Tesco, Aldi and Aeon.

The fair saw an export turnover of 22.3 billion USD in its offline exhibition, an increase of 2.8% compared with the 133rd session. Brand enterprises achieved an export turnover of 6.35 billion US dollars, up by 7.8% over the last session, taking up 28.5% of the total export turnover. The turnover with countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative was 12.27 billion US dollars, picking up 2% over the previous session.

At the International Pavilion, 650 companies from 43 countries and regions showcased their products and service, among which 60% are from countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. Türkiye was the largest national exhibition group, and many Japanese enterprises which took part in the fair for the first time signed a number of orders of considerable value.

The fair launched 401 shows to present new products and held the 2023 Canton Fair Design Award Ceremony to award 141 innovative products developed by 118 companies/institutions. High-end, intelligent, low-carbon, and green products predominated, while creative products were widely popular.

Furthermore, the fair accepted online and offline intellectual property complaints involving a total of 444 enterprises, and finally found 197 enterprises suspected of infringement. It also accepted and mediated 29 trade disputes.

It is worth noting that the fair issued 638,000 badges, and foot traffic at the fair was 2.75 million. A total of 1.77 million people and 44,000 vehicles entered the Canton Fair Complex, 1.01 million meals were offered, 74,000 booths were built, 1.04 million square meters of carpet were laid, and about 60,000 directional signs were set up.

Fair's online platform continues on a regular basis

The fair's online platform will continue offering services for both exhibitors and buyers on a regular basis.

In total, 453,857 overseas buyers participated online, an increase of 16.2% over the 133rd session. Exhibitors uploaded more than 2.75 million exhibits on the online platform, including more than 700,000 new products, about 110,000 smart products, over 430,000 green and low-carbon products, and about 230,000 independent intellectual property products.

The total number of visitors to the Canton Fair online platform was 7.89 million, of which 6.6 million were overseas visitors, accounting for 84%. The store visits of exhibitors totaled 4.386 million times, of which the store visits of export exhibitors totaled 4.348 million times, and the store visits of import exhibitors 38,000 times. Exhibitors conducted 3,362 livestreams, with a total of about 30,000 views.
