At the 2025 Guangzhou International Emergency Safety Expo, held at the Canton Fair Complex from June 16, a low-altitude flight meteorological data service platform developed by the Guangzhou Meteorological Bureau stole the spotlight. Currently, the platform is undergoing trial operations with some government and enterprise users.

The platform comprises seven key modules: real-time weather monitoring, weather forecasting and early warning, climate risk zoning, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) wind field simulation, flight route simulation, flight weather risk forecasting, and real-time aircraft flight information, according to the Guangzhou Meteorological Bureau.

The Guangzhou Meteorological Bureau promotes its achievements in low-altitude flight meteorological support equipment to attendees at the 2025 Guangzhou International Emergency Safety Expo.

These modules are designed for low-altitude flight scenarios, including emergency rescue, air traffic, logistics and distribution, cultural and tourism sightseeing, as well as agricultural and forestry plant protection.

According to relevant staff from the Guangzhou Meteorological Bureau, in the 500-meter low-altitude airspace used for low-altitude flights, weather conditions are influenced not only by conventional factors like temperature, gusts, and precipitation but can also change abruptly due to the presence of buildings. While regular civil aviation flights have dedicated meteorological support services, this new platform specifically caters to low-altitude flights in the Guangzhou area.

During its construction, the platform integrated the latest scientific research achievements from both the national and provincial levels. For instance, the Guangdong Provincial Meteorological Service combined a thunderstorm gale objective identification algorithm with real-time monitoring from automatic weather stations to generate ground-integrated gale conditions with a 1-kilometer resolution across the entire province. These products are updated every six minutes.

Looking ahead, the Guangzhou Low-Altitude Flight Meteorological Data Service Platform is set to optimize and expand its functions. It aims to provide comprehensive, accurate, and timely meteorological support for the low-altitude economy, meeting the refined meteorological service needs of the government (G-end), enterprises (B-end), and individuals (C-end) involved in low-altitude flights.
