Featuring 375 of the very best Chinese animations, cartoons, New Year pictures, comic strips, manga comics, illustrations and bound books, the ‘Comprehensive Painting, Animation and Cartoon Exhibition of the 13th China National Exhibition of Fine Arts’ is now underway at the Guangdong Museum of Art in Guangzhou. It is open to the public for free until September 22nd.

The exhibition assembles over 7,000 works, a record in terms of this type of painting. A total of 40 pieces from Guangzhou artists are on display, three of which have been nominated for an award.
Visitors will also be able to attend some animation and comic themed events during the exhibition period, including a discussion panel with the board chairman of the Association of Japanese Animations Sadao Tsukioka, 3D special effects artist from the Vancouver Film School Shawn Tilling, and the President of the Guangzhou Cartoonists Association Jin Cheng.

The exhibition, jointly held by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and China Artist Association, is also dedicated to celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It is organized by Publicity Office of CPC Guangzhou Committee, Guangzhou Municipal Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, Guangzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Guangdong Museum of Art, and Guangzhou Cartoonists Association.
As China’s largest and most influential state-level comprehensive exhibition of fine arts, the China National Exhibition of Fine Arts is held every five years and has been held on twelve occasions. It celebrates China’s most accomplished artists and offers a comprehensive insight into the development of China’s fine art scene over the past five years.
