The 24 medics from Zhanjiang who were dispatched to Hubei province to help fight the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic returned to their work on April 13 after completing a 14-day quarantine and a seven-day rest period since returning to the city on March 20.
The first batch of Zhangjiang medics was sent to Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei, on Feb 9, while the second batch was dispatched to Shishou, a county-level city in Jingzhou, Hubei, on Feb 11.
The medical workers are from the Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University.

Lu Jinghui, president of Guangdong Medical University, paid tribute to the 24 medics for their contributions to Hubei's COVID-19 fight on behalf of the university's over 20,000 teachers, students, and staff at the welcoming ceremony held on the same day.
Lu praised these medics as heroes who put themselves in harm's way, adding that they had been spoken highly of by the people of Shishou and Wuhan in Hubei.
Sun Xiaocong and Li Zhuoji, both of whom are graduates of Guangdong Medical University and had been dispatched to Hubei, said at the welcoming ceremony that they would carry forward the dedicated and selfless spirit of the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic in Hubei and devote themselves to public health undertakings in the future.
