All 132 impoverished households, comprised of 593 impoverished people, in Tiaowen village on Donghai Island, Zhanjiang were recently lifted out of poverty with the operation of several poverty alleviation industrial projects.

There are a total of 2,283 households in Tiaowen village, and a permanent resident population of 8,055. With its location near the sea, the village has little land, with its per capita cultivated land area less than 0.5 mu (0.03 hectares). It used to be a provincial-level poverty stricken village.

Industrial projects, including a smart vegetable greenhouse base, two modern agricultural comprehensive demonstration parks, the photovoltaic power generation green energy project, as well as several poverty alleviation workshops for clothing, had been put into production, ensuring stable incomes for villagers.

"The environment in the village has improved a lot, and the life of villagers has become better," said Nie Zhihui, a cadre staying at the village.

The village plans to establish a business center and an e-commerce logistics service station this year to further improve villagers' lives.
