The industrial output value of Shenzhen’s robotics industry hit 125.7 billion yuan (US$17.62 billion) in 2019, an increase of 6.73 percent year on year, a research report released Friday by the Shenzhen Robotics Association showed.

A total of 757 enterprises in Shenzhen are engaged in the robotics industry, according to the report.

The sector’s production volume for industrial purpose was 82.2 billion yuan in 2019, up by 2.33 percent over 2018. But the production volume of non-industrial robotics was 43.5 billion yuan, an increase of 27.94 percent over the previous year.

Non-industrial robotics for households, commercial and education purposes witnessed rapid growth in 2019. Of them, the growth of robotics for commercial services took up half of the total production volume of non-industrial robotics, the report showed.

The number of robotics enterprises increased by 16.6 percent in 2019 over the previous year.

In the niche markets, UBTECH, LS-Ladar and Mozi have become major players in artificial intelligence services, while Launch Digital, Huacheng and Hongbai have taken the lead in industrial robotics. Orbbec and Leadshine are known for producing key spare parts and components.
