The first Global Geographical Indications Products Expo will be held from Nov 19 to 21 in Luzhou, Sichuan province, presenting around 1,000 products that are closely associated with places, including bean paste from Pi county and pomegranate from Huili county.
Themed "strengthening the protection of geographical indications and promoting the high-quality industrial development", the expo will be held on a 20,000-square-meter exhibition area divided into six categories, including tea, wine, fruit, arts and crafts.
The Forum of China-EU Agreement on Geographical Indications will also be held during the expo.
According to Yu Xianhe, mayor of Luzhou, 16 major events will he held during the expo, which will invite diplomats, experts and scholars, and representatives from business associations and well-known enterprises to discuss the hot issues on geographical indications products.
"We will focus on culture exchange and telling the stories of the geographical indications products," Yu said.
