WeChat, a major player of China’s online payment platforms, launched its electronic receipt on March 10th.

Through this new function, retailers and department stores can send the receipt automatically to customers. For WeChat users, they can browse through the receipts on WeChat and then save it. More after-sale services are also available online.
The receipt is a must-have for an exchange or refund. However, over 90% paper receipts will be thrown away.
“In the past, the buyers need to wait for the receipts. Now, if they use WeChat to give the payment, they can get that online on the way home. This not only improves our work efficiency but also saves a lot of paper,” said a cashier.
Thus, this paperless move will encourage both the businesses and consumers to contribute to a green and low-carbon market in China.

In the future, the digital receipt is expected to be used in all kinds of industries and scenarios to strive for a paperless consumption society.
