On November 23, 2024, the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin Artificial Intelligence Competition & the 6th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Robotics Contest kicked off at the Zhuhai International Convention and Exhibition Center. Spanning two days, the event includes 16 matches on its opening day, awarding approximately 20 prizes.
Around 300 officials and representatives from educational associations, and research institutes attended the opening ceremony.
Themed "Technology, Innovation, Cooperation, Growth," this year’s competition includes nine events, such as 3D design challenges, robotics competitions, creative showcases, and programming contests. These events are designed to test participants’ technical knowledge, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
The competition caters to a wide age range, from preschoolers to university students, with the youngest participant under four years old. The contest has also gained global attention, attracting teams from countries like Singapore, the United States, and Portugal. Domestically, it brings together participants from nine provinces, Hong Kong, and Macao, totaling 30 cities, including a delegation of 140 students from Zhuhai’s partner city, Zunyi.
Overall, nearly 10,000 participants from 956 schools are taking part in the competition. Macao sent its largest delegation to date, with 25 schools and 500 participants. These teams submitted 69 entries in various categories, including digital creations and creative displays.
The competition has steadily grown in influence since its inception. Zhuhai and Hengqin have co-hosted the event since 2019, with each edition enhancing its reputation. Organizers aim to foster a stronger technological education environment, drive innovation, and prepare youth for future challenges.
