On June 18, 2025, the 31st Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) opened at the China National Convention Center.
Themed "Rooted in GBA, Connecting Southeast Asia," the 2025 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) International Book Fair Global Preview and Signing Ceremony for Guangdong Publishing Group's Copyright Cooperation with Southeast Asia was successfully held at the center. The event was hosted by Guangdong Publishing Group and Southern Publishing and Media, and co-hosted by Guangdong Education Publishing House and Guangdong Xinhua Issuing Group.
In his speech, Wu Shulin, chairman of the Publishers Association of China, pointed out that hosting the GBA International Book Fair and promoting book copyright exports to Southeast Asian countries is a friendly message from Guangdong to the world and a cultural exchange worthy of high praise.
According to Chen Bin, director of the International Department of Southern Publishing and Media, the GBA International Book Fair, themed "Books in GBA, Global View, Shared Future", will be held at the Guangzhou Canton Fair Complex from August 15 to 19 this year.
Covering an area of 10,000 square meters, the fair will feature seven exhibition areas, including the "Culture Going-out" Area, the "Belt and Road" Area, the International Copyright and Trade Exchange Area, the IP Authorization and Goods Culture Area, as well as the International Brand Publishing Pavilion, International Picture Book Pavilion, and International Art Pavilion. Through these efforts, the fair will carry out in depth more activities of "inviting in" and "going out" .
During the fair, there will be events such as the World Children's Books and Illustrations Exhibition, the World's Most Beautiful Book Exhibition, and the GBA Book Design Biennale to showcase the charm of reading across different cultural backgrounds.
At this signing ceremony, several books were contracted for publication. "Explore Guangdong and Greater Bay Area" and "Flying Ship Dream" by Guangdong Education Publishing House, as well as "My Altay" in Malay by Huacheng Publishing House, were signed with Asian Think Tank in Malaysia. The "Chinese Chip" Technology Series in English by Guangdong Science & Technology Press was signed with Singapore's World Scientific Publishing Company. "Mission on Mars" in Thai by New Century Publishing House was signed with Thailand's Hongsamut Publishing Company, and "The Strength of a Great Nation" in Cambodian by Guangdong Economy Publishing House was signed with Cambodia's Khmer Books Edition.
This joint signing event marks Guangdong Publishing Group's effort to share China's literary, sci-tech, and economic achievements with Southeast Asia and the world through book copyright cooperation. It is also an important way to effectively tell the stories of Guangdong, the GBA, and China to the world.
Guangdong Publishing Group has been committed to promoting cultural exchanges with Southeast Asia. It has established partnerships with 48 publishing and cultural institutions in eight countries and translated and published nearly a hundred types of books.
