A new international cruise port will start operation in Nansha, a rapidly developing district of Guangzhou, on November 17.
The Costa neoRomantica
Once operational, the cruise port will have the Costa neoRomantica ship parking in Nansha for the first time, and open four cruise lines to Okinawa, Yaeyama Islands and Miyakojima in Japan and Danang in Vietnam.
Covering an area of 760,000 square meters, the Nansha cruise port is one of the biggest ports of its kind, and will be able to host the world's largest existing cruise ships and handle between 750,000 to one million inbound and outbound trips annually.
According to the developer, the new port has three entrances and one exit. Outbound passengers will receive ticket and luggage services on the first floor and go through security and border checks along their way to the departure area on the second floor.
The boarding corridor
The port's Gate 4 will be connected with the Nansha Passenger Port Station of Guangzhou Metro Line 4 with a 500-meter tunnel, for passengers traveling from the inner regions of Guangzhou. The tunnel is now under construction and is expected to be completed at the end of September. The port is also equipped with a 20,000-square-meter parking area where passengers can transfer via shuttle buses and taxis.
Nansha has operated nine cruise lines to 12 destinations including Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines, making it one of the busiest cruise ports in the nation with cruise lines to South East Asia.
